Smoky Situation

Three people were displaced following a townhouse fire in Yankton early Tuesday morning. According To Yankton Deputy Fire Chief Larry Nickles, crews were summoned to a structure fire in the 1300 block of Oakwood Dr. at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday after a resident in one of the units lost power and could also smell smoke. One unit received substantial damage while a second received some smoke damage. No injuries were reported. Nickles said it’s believed that an electrical issue led to the fire. The Yankton Police Department, Yankton County Sheriff’s Office, Yankton EMS, Yankton County Emergency Management and the American Red Cross all responded to the fire.
