No injuries were reported following a vehicle fire in Yankton Friday afternoon. According to Yankton Deputy Fire Chief Larry Nickles, a van was westbound on E. Highway 50 near Long’s Propane when the driver noticed smoke coming from under the hood around 12:20 p.m. A burst gas line caused the fire to burn intensely for some time, making fighting the fire difficult. “We finally had to maintain and let it burn underneath the car,” Nickles said. The vehicle was a total loss, but tools were able to be salvaged from the vehicle. Firefighters were on scene for about an hour.
