Colors at the Market at the Meridian on Saturday will be red and green, the colors of Christmas. Dish towels, afghans, wreaths and other Christmas decorations will be in abundance in the parking lot in the northeast corner of Second and Douglas from 9 a.m.-noon. All the jewelry, photographs, baby clothes, wooden items: signs and pens to name a couple, and much more will help get your holiday shopping done early.
The Sweet Adelines will be there to tell about the organization and do a bit of singing. Maybe they will sing some Christmas music.
Not all merchants will have special things for Christmas, but watch for decorations and costumes, and enjoy the soothing sounds of James Dean’s music.
The Cameron Colony will be at the Market for the first time in 2019. They will be bringing veggies, plus jams, jellies, honey and their famous chicken pot pies. Don’t forget to pick up eggs, Kolaches and other baked goods.
Due to late planting, the produce has been coming through in small amounts. But it looks as if there will be a bumper crop of fruits and veggies this year. Zucchini, summer squash, cucumbers, radishes, peppers and greens are among the offerings this week.
The farmers market has long been a great way for people who live in or are visiting Yankton to discover our beautiful downtown district and businesses, to purchase direct from the farmer, and to find art and specialty products. Vendors may vary weekly, but most are there each and every week until Oct. 26.
