SUNDAY, DECEMBER 29

12:49 p.m. — A deputy assisted a Vermillion Police Officer with an arrest during an incident at a Vermillion residence.

9:10 p.m. — A deputy responded to a medical emergency at a rural residence and assisted the patient until the arrival of EMS.

MONDAY, DECEMBER 30

1:26 p.m. — A deputy investigated a report of an assault. The assault was determined to have happened in Codington County. Information was passed along to law enforcement there.

2:05 p.m. — A deputy responded to a one vehicle crash north of Wakonda after a vehicle slid off the road due to weather conditions.

8:10 p.m. — A deputy responded to a rollover crash on Highway 46 east of Irene.

10:35 p.m. — A caller reported a vehicle was parked with its lights on at the dead end portion of Princeton St. The caller was concerned the person may be stuck. A deputy responded and found that the vehicle was no longer in the area.

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 31

7:49 a.m. — An anonymous caller reported a person listed on the Sheriff’s Office web site warrant list was staying at a Burbank residence. A deputy responded and located the wanted person. The man was arrested and was transported to the jail.

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 1

7:25 p.m. — A rural Meckling resident reported a drone had flown over her property.

THURSDAY, JANUARY 2

8:33 a.m. — A wanted inmate was transported from the Brown County Jail in Aberdeen to the Clay County Jail.

9:31 a.m. — A deputy responded along with a Highway Patrol Trooper to a rollover crash on Highway 50 east of Vermillion. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for DWI.

10:10 a.m. — A caller reported seeing a wanted person at a Vermillion residence. A deputy responded and arrested the man and transported him to the jail.

2:23 p.m. — As County Coroner, the Sheriff investigated a death and completed a death certification regarding an accidental death that took place in Vermillion in December.

3:06 p.m. — An inmate was transported to the Yankton County Jail to be held there due to crowding in the Clay County Jail. A different inmate who was wanted in Clay County was transported back from the Yankton County Jail to the Clay County Jail.

4:15 p.m. — The Sheriff mediated a child custody dispute involving kids taken by one parent to another state. Both parents were advised to contact an attorney.

5:24 p.m. — Four inmates were transported to the Union County Jail to be held due to crowding in the Clay County Jail.

7:10 p.m. — A caller reported a vehicle parked in the driving lane of Highway 50 east of Vermillion. A deputy responded and found a vehicle left unattended in the highway. The vehicle was towed to clear the traffic hazard.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 3

6:27 a.m. — An inmate was transported from the State Penitentiary in Springfield to the Clay County Courthouse for a court appearance and then was returned to the Penitentiary after court.

7:44 a.m. — A deputy responded to a report of a deceased deer in the road on Highway 19 north of Vermillion. The deer was located and removed from the road.

11:58 a.m. — An inmate was transported from the jail to a medical appointment.

4:34 p.m. — A deputy responded along with a highway patrol trooper to an injury crash on Highway 46.

11:09 p.m. — A deputy responded to a report of a 911 call from a rural residence. The call was determined to have been accidentally dialed.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 4

3:01 p.m. — A deputy responded to a report of a medical emergency at an Irene residence.
