HARTINGTON, Neb. — A Fordyce, Nebraska, man has died in a two-vehicle accident Thursday morning in Cedar County, Nebraska.
The accident occurred at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Highway 12 and the Highway 14A spur, Cedar County Sheriff Larry Koranda said in a news release.
The intersection is located just north of Fordyce in northern Cedar County.
A Ford Edge, driven by 48-year-old Kristopher Arens of Fordyce, failed to yield to an eastbound Peterbilt semi-truck driven by 61-year-old Jonathan Kelly of Livingston, Mont.
Arens, the only occupant of the Ford Edge, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the sheriff. Arens was not wearing his seatbelt, the sheriff added.
Kelly, the only occupant of the Peterbilt, was treated and released at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton.
The accident remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office, Koranda said.
The Fordyce Fire, Hartington Fire and Rescue, Nebraska State Patrol, Nebraska Game and Parks, and the Nebraska Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.
Arens’ services are pending at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.
