Friends of the Missouri National Recreational River will get together on Aug. 15 at the Meridian Bridge Green space in Yankton for an entertaining evening of free music. Bring a friend to kick off the Riverboat Days weekend. The music starts at 6 p.m. and finishes at 8 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 16, there will be a free evening kayak paddle on Lake Yankton. Kayakers age 12 to adult are invited from 5:30-7 p.m. Launch site is first turn out and restroom just after the fish cleaning station on the south side of Lake Yankton. A limited number of kayaks are available; to reserve one, email MNRR508@gmail.com or call Teresa Mentzer at 605-665-0209 ext. 29.

On Saturday, Aug 17, rangers will be on hand 12:30-3:30 p.m. at the park headquarters on E. Second St. just east of the baseball park in Riverside Park. They will be showing the new National Park Movie, "River of Change," and will have the Mobil Ranger Station on site so you can test your steamboat knowledge.
