A part of 431st Ave. is once again closed due to the rising waters of the James River.
Yankton County Highway Superintendent Mike Sedlacek told the Press & Dakotan that the closure covers the road from Stone Church Rd. to 293rd St. about six miles south of Menno.
"(The river) came up a couple weeks ago," he said. "It was on the edge of the road, it went down a couple of feet and then last Friday it came up again and was touching the edge of the road again. Finally yesterday it started trickling over."
He added that Wednesday morning had dawned with water completely covering the road and, by afternoon, it was only halfway covered.
"It’s starting to recede," he said. "I’m hoping (Thursday), if not, Friday, we can have it open."
The road had been closed for several weeks due to flooding in March.
