Dylan Lopez

A Yankton man has been arrested and is being charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of a Yankton woman.

According to a press release issued Saturday by the Yankton County Sheriff’s office, Dylon Lopez, 21, of Yankton was arrested at 6:10 a.m. Saturday in connection with the death of Deborah Lynn Schock, 61, on Sept. 7.

In a press release issued Friday, the sheriff’s department reported that deputies had been called to a mobile home located on Vote St. in rural Yankton County at 11:44 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, for a report of a death. Family members had discovered Schock deceased in her residence and notified law enforcement. A preliminary investigation indicated that she had been deceased for several days.

The death was determined to be suspicious. An autopsy was conducted in Sioux Falls earlier this week.

The case is being handled by the sheriff’s office and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation.

Lopez is being held at the Yankton County Jail on $1 million bond.

“Additional information will be released when it is deemed not to compromise the ongoing investigation,” Saturday’s press release said.
