SUNDAY, JULY 28
1:43 a.m. — A deputy received a report from the parents of two Irene girls who reported their daughters had not yet returned from an out of town street dance. Shortly after the report, the girls returned home safely.
MONDAY, JULY 29
3:39 a.m. — A deputy responded to a report of a man acting strangely and knocking on the door of a Wakonda residence. The man was located and was arrested for ingestion of a controlled substance.
12:54 p.m. — An inmate was transported to a medical appointment and then was returned to the jail.
3:47 p.m. — A deputy assisted a Vermillion Police Officer with photographing evidence in a domestic assault investigation.
8:08 p.m. — While serving civil process to a man in Vermillion, a deputy discovered the man was wanted. The man was arrested and booked into the jail.
8:37 p.m. — A vehicle was stopped and the driver was cited for speeding on 302nd St. near Wakonda.
TUESDAY, JULY 30
9:12 a.m. — A deputy responded to a report of a man walking on University Road. A deputy responded and learned the man was out for a walk and needed no assistance.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 31
2:26 p.m. — An inmate was transported to a dental appointment and then was returned to the jail.
3:30 p.m. — A deputy received a complaint from a Meckling resident of a fence being placed within the right of way. A township official was notified and he will look into the matter.
7:28 p.m. — A Wakonda resident called to complain about municipal ordinances in Wakonda. The man was referred to his own attorney.
7:31 p.m. — Deputies responded to a report of an alarm received from a Wakonda business. There was no indication of any foul play and the alarm was determined to be a malfunction.
THURSDAY, AUGUST 1
8:53 a.m. — An inmate was transported to a dental appointment and then was returned to the jail.
10:55 a.m. — A deputy responded to a report of vandalism of buildings at the Irene football field.
12:25 p.m. — A deputy investigated a report of possible illegal sexual contact in Irene. The matter is under investigation.
1:12 p.m. — An inmate was transported to a medical appointment and then was returned to the jail.
7:42 p.m. — A deputy responded to the hospital emergency room after a report of a patient coming in with a gunshot wound. It was determined that the man had accidentally shot himself while cleaning the gun. The injury was minor.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 2
5:01 a.m. — A deputy responded along with fire units to a structure fire west of Vermillion.
8:42 p.m. — A deputy responded to a rural residence after an elderly man called 911 asking for the date. There was no problem at the residence and no need of any assistance.
9:41 p.m. — A deputy responded to a rural residence after a neighbor called to report that a man was lighting fireworks. No fireworks were currently being used but the man was informed of dates to legally light fireworks.
10:28 p.m. — A deputy responded to a welfare check when a woman reported she couldn’t reach her daughter at her ex-husband’s residence. The girl was there and safe. No other action was taken.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 3
6:56 a.m. — A deputy and a Highway Patrol Trooper responded to a crash involving a semi partially blocking Highway 50 near Meckling.
10:45 a.m. — A caller reported a dispute over property after a relationship between a man and a woman ended. A deputy provided advice on where to seek legal assistance. There was no violence involved but only concern about ownership of property.
12:25 p.m. — A deputy responded to a report of a minor collision causing no damage to either vehicle at a business in Irene. The incident resulted in an argument between the occupants of the vehicles but no need for an accident report.
