PIERRE — The South Dakota Department of Human Services Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) and the South Dakota Retailers Association (SDRA) will be providing a free employment webinar on Tuesday, July 16 at 10 a.m. CDT.

“Recruiting, Hiring and Retaining Employees with Disabilities: Vocational Rehabilitation Services Available to Businesses” will explain how vocational rehabilitation services can partner with businesses by offering customized assistance and support.

“The webinar will provide businesses in South Dakota with in-depth information and knowledge on vocational rehabilitation services and other supports available when hiring or retaining employees with disabilities,” said DRS Business Specialist Kimberly Ludwig.

The employment rate of people with disabilities in South Dakota is 51.3 percent versus 82.5 percent of those without disabilities - an employment gap of 32.5 percent.

“We are encouraging the South Dakota business community to participate and learn more about a relatively untapped workforce population,” SDRA Executive Director Nathan Sanderson remarked. “With statewide unemployment below 3 percent, our association members are eager to explore their employment options and create a beneficial partnership.”

You can register for the webinar by visiting: attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/2385875759279748610.

The webinar is available to anyone at no cost.
