Body of Missing Man Found In River

The body of a Yankton man has been recovered after he was reported missing Friday afternoon while fishing on Lewis and Clark Lake.

Duane Ernster, 53, was found Monday morning near Gavins Point campground, according a news release from the Yankton County sheriff’s office.

The discovery ended a search that was in its fourth day.

The Yankton County Sheriff’s Office received a request at approximately 2:47 p.m. Friday to assist in locating a Yankton male.

A fishing boat, owned by Ernster, was located unattended near the Nebraska shore at Lewis and Clark Lake. A search of Lewis and Clark Lake began and continued through the weekend.

At approximately 10:05 a.m. Monday, a person camping at the Gavins Point campground discovered a body in the water near the shore.

The body was identified as Ernster. An autopsy of the victim has been scheduled.
