On Aug. 5, 2019, Interchange met at Minerva’s Grill and Bar at noon. The program, arranged by Marie Steckelberg of Steckelberg Consulting, was The Yankton Airshow and was presented by Jake Hoffner and Christen Lacey. Announcements were made by past-president Julie Amsberry welcoming new member Rachelle Moore of Avera Medical Group, Paula Tacke with the Mead Cultural Education Center on upcoming Riverboat Days weekend happenings, and Julie Amsberry of Yankton Area Arts on the Tonic Sol Fa concert at Mount Marty College in September. Interchange President, Kristi Tacke, reminded members of next Monday’s Interchange annual meeting and the upcoming 35th anniversary celebration on Sept. 17 with tickets and more information on that event coming soon.

The next meeting will held be on Monday, Aug. 12, at Minerva’s and there will be the annual meeting in place of a program.

ASHH Toastmaster Club 6217

Toastmaster Joyce Stevens called to order the meeting of ASHH 6217 at 12:05 on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019. Jan Schiferl, acting as CPA, opened with an inspirational story & poem, ending with the flag pledge.

Seth Koertner as General Evaluator introduced his team for the day. Grammarian Steve Anderson presented the word of the day “opulent”, meaning superior in quality or something that is lavish.

Sheila Ulrich gave her Pathways Icebreaker speech entitled “Expect The Unexpected.” She told the club she was a “lifelong learner” and joined Toastmasters as a gift to herself to improve social and speaking skills. As a new member, she kindly complimented the club for their welcoming feel and acceptance.

Uke Bauska acted as Table Topics Master and asked Gale Vogt, Seth Koertner, Joni Hughes, Steve Anderson, Jan Schiferl, Everett Wood and Joyce Stevens questions to be answered using their impromptu speaking skills. Gale Vogt evaluated Ulrich’s speech. He complimented her on giving her first speech with nice volume, rate & eye contact.

As grammarian, Anderson noted uses of the word of the day and effective words and phrases heard during the meeting. As Ah Counter, Joni Hughes noted uses of connector words and unnecessary fillers. Koertner evaluated the meeting as a whole.

The best Table Topics Award went to Joni Hughes.

Toastmaster Taylor adjourned the meeting at 12:55 p.m.
