The Sanctuary of the United Church of Christ, 210 West Fifth Street, Yankton, will present “An Afternoon with The Rawlins Trio” at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27.
The Rawlins Piano Trio is a dynamic group of performers, teachers and scholars, distinguishing itself in arts outreach, masterclasses and a variety of performances. The program is very audience friendly — all Romantic but made up of three different aspects of romanticism. They are playing the Hummel Grand Trio in E-flat (early romantic and virtuosic like Mozart), the Clara Schuman Trio from 1847 and a set of character pieces by Iowa native Mortimer Wilson representing the late romantic period.
The members of the trio are on the faculty of the University of South Dakota Department of Music and include violinist Ioana Galu, cellist Sonja Kraus and pianist Susan Keith Gray.
A free-will offering is requested to help offset costs; any profits made will go toward restoring the historic stained glass windows in the sanctuary.
