The Ride Across South Dakota (RASDak) bike tour will show off the scenic Missouri River, and the four dams, on the RASDak 2020 Best Dam Ride. The 463-mile tour will start in Pollock on June 7, with overnight stops at Mobridge, Gettysburg, Pierre, Chamberlain, Platte, and Tyndall, before finishing in Vermillion on June 13.
This will be the eighth ride across the state and the first going from north to south. Bicyclists from over 30 states will be participating, attracted by the infinite variety of South Dakota scenery, and the hospitality of South Dakota’s small communities.
RASDak will be providing a $500 scholarship to a senior in each of the host communities. RASDak and its riders will also be supporting numerous community groups that are providing snack stops, meals and shelter to the riders and support crew. RASDak is a volunteer organization that is supported by the following sponsors: South Dakota Beef Industry Council, Spoke-n-Sport, Sioux Falls Bicycle Company, and AARP South Dakota.
Registration for RASDak is limited, and full-week and single-day options are available. Registered riders receive on-route support, luggage, transportation and camping accommodations.” Regular food and rest stops are provided along the way, usually by local groups as fundraisers. Registration and a full route map are at rasdak.com.
