Governor's Camp At USD Gets National Attention
Tim Duggan, a professor in the School of Education at The U, became director of the camp in 2004. Duggan's article on the camp was featured in the February 2006 issue of SCOPE. The article highlighted the rewards a child can receive from attending this camp and also showcased the program's new curriculum. Recently the program has expanded its traditional five-day adventure into academic and artistic enrichment to include an extra day for students to explore their individual talents. "I am pleased that the South Dakota Governor's Camp, which has a great tradition, is gaining attention with the National Association for Gifted Children." said Duggan. "SCOPE is read by teachers and curriculum specialists working with gifted children across the country and around the world."
