DWU Men’s Hoops Players Earn Academic Honors
MITCHELL — Three members of the Dakota Wesleyan University men’s basketball team received one final honor for their work in the classroom throughout the 2010-11 season, it was announced this week.
After graduating from Dakota Wesleyan, Brady Wiebe, Mark Mingo and Chase Walder were all named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches 2010-11 Honors Court, the association announced Monday afternoon. The honors court recognizes the talents of basketball players off the court and the hard work the put into the classroom.
Mingo, an Armour native, graduated with a degree in biochemistry. Walder, a Castlewood native, graduated from the school’s nursing program and Wiebe — a Madison native — graduated with a degree in business administration. Mingo and Wiebe also earned Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete status this season, and Wiebe was named to the Capital One Academic All-District 7 team in 2010-11.
