Pound Count
Several animals are available at the Yankton Animal Shelter. For more information call the Yankton Police Department’s Animal Control Officer, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday at 661-9494, or 668-5210. A $5 fee is required to adopt an animal. Animals can be viewed on the Humane Society Web site at www.heartlandhumanesociety.net.

The Press and Dakotan publishes police and sheriff reports as a public service to its readers. It is important to remember that an arrest should not imply guilt and that every person is presumed innocent until proven otherwise. When juveniles are released from jail, it is into the care of a parent or guardian.
It is the policy of the Press and Dakotan to publish all names made available in the police and court reports. There are no exceptions.

• A report was received at 5:08 p.m. Wednesday of a hit-and-run at Webster School.
Arrests/Citations/Bookings
• Samuel Warren Curtis, 24, Yankton, was arrested at 6:04 p.m. Wednesday for domestic violence. He was released at 10:04 p.m. Wednesday on $500 bond.
• Amy Marie Haynes, 27, Yankton, was arrested at 12:18 a.m. Wednesday for grand theft. She was released at 8:51 p.m. Wednesday on $2,000 bond.
• Dawna Denelle Langen, 48, Yankton, was arrested at 12:14 a.m. Wednesday for simple assault. She was released at 6:37 p.m. Wednesday on $500 bond.
• Cindy Lee Rochholz, 42, Yankton, was arrested at 5:03 p.m. Wednesday for failure to send child to school. She was released at 5:26 p.m. Wednesday on $200 bond.
• Michael Dennis Vining, 36, Yankton, was arrested at 7 p.m. Wednesday for second-degree petty theft. He was released at 9:51 p.m. Wednesday on $500 bond.
Incidents
• A woman reported at 6:02 p.m. Wednesday that approximately 25 checks had been stolen from her and forged.
• A woman in the 600 block of Broadway reported at 6:14 p.m. Wednesday that someone had entered her apartment and taken a variety of items, including a DVD/VCR player, a computer mouse, a wooden chest and a phone.
• A report was received at 11:52 p.m. Wednesday of graffiti on a wall in the 1900 block of Broadway.
