Pound Count
Several animals are available at the Yankton Animal Shelter. For more information call the Yankton Police Department’s Animal Control Officer, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday at 661-9494, or 668-5210. A $5 fee is required to adopt an animal. Animals can be viewed on the Humane Society Web site at www.heartlandhumanesociety.net.
Animals available for adoption include:
• three Lab mix puppies;
• a male yellow Lab puppy; and
• a tan and white male Corgi mix that was found on East 13th St.

• A woman reported at 11:26 p.m. Saturday that her vehicle was struck from behind in the 2100 block of Douglas. The suspect vehicle left the scene.
• A report was received at 6:57 p.m. Sunday that a male on a bicycle had impacted with the sidewalk in the 2300 block of Broadway. The bicycle had a quick-release front tire that came loose and caused the bike to crash. The juvenile male was taken to the hospital with head injuries.

• An individual was arrested around 2 a.m. Saturday for urinating in public at a downtown establishment.
• Two males were arrested around 2 a.m. Saturday after an altercation took place outside a downtown establishment.
• Two males were arrested after an Iowa man was assaulted and kicked in the head just after 2 a.m. Saturday in downtown Yankton.
• A man was arrested after a report of a domestic disturbance was received 2:24 a.m. at the 1100 block of Burleigh.
• A report was received at 7:19 p.m. Saturday of a sewing machine that was stolen from a local business. Estimated value of the loss was $2,000.
• A report was received at 7:31 p.m. Saturday of two Huffy bikes stolen from the 900 block of Karen Drive.
• A gas drive-off valued at $72 was reported at 8:41 p.m. Saturday from a local gas station.
• Two men were arrested after a report of an altercation in the 300 block of Capital was received around 2 a.m. Sunday.
• A burglary was reported at 8:12 a.m. Sunday in the 500 block of Douglas. The suspect broke in through the front door and packed several bags with female clothes, toiletries, books and refrigerated items. The bags were then hidden in a small shed in the 500 block of Capital.
• A report was received at 2:05 p.m. Sunday that some glass in a church door in the 2300 block of Douglas had been shattered. Rocks were found scattered in front of the door.
• A man in the 500 block of Douglas reported at 2:48 p.m. Sunday that his 1997 Ford Ranger had been stolen.
