Tuesday, July 25, 1933
• The Yankton Chamber of Commerce has pledged to cooperate with President Roosevelt’s new recovery program, known as the National Recovery Administration (NRA). Soon, badges featuring the NRA logo will appear in business places around town.
• The Yankton School Board voted last night not to close Webster School entirely, but to have one first grade, if not two, there. It is probable that an overflow from Garfield School will be sent to Webster, as well.

Friday, July 25, 1958
• A Parker farmer, Cornelius Kunkel, who was injured during a power take-off on a combine Tuesday, died Wednesday evening in Sioux Falls. His funeral services are Saturday.
• Colin (Bus) Monfore of Yankton has been appointed the director of the AAU Open Swimming Meet to be held at the Yankton Memorial Park Pool Aug. 3.

• Yankton City Manager Bill Ross reports that the city has been denied a waiver of the required 40 percent local matching funding for a state-administered federal Housing and Urban Development (HUD) block grant. The grant was being sought for storm sewer construction serving the eastern end of the city. However, Yankton does not qualify financially for the program.
• The Yankton Jacks topped the Yankton Lakers 4-3 in the first game of their amateur baseball playoff series, even though the Jacks had just three hits. Lee Brannan was the winning pitcher.
